INSIGHTS: TOWARDS NEW FRONTIERS

--

Starting where I left off the previous week, we had the Emergency meeting that night. Our Campus Director(CD), was a bundle of nerves, as now we had the task of re-planning everything so as not to coincide with our campus and examination routines and the upcoming biggest festivals in Nepal, Dashain and Tihar. The events had to be scheduled somewhere in between, and after extensive brainstorming and discussions, we finally dodged the bullet, filling every event somewhere in between. But it doesn’t end there, postponing the pre-events meant we had to plan some other events in their place. And that meant, another session on Tuesday Talks, which we otherwise had thought of putting an end to.

So we only had one day to search for a speaker, declare the event, and conduct it the next day. Out of everything, searching for the right speaker was the crux of the matter. All thanks to our Ambassador and the “people person” he is, he came up with Mr. Sanjay Kafle, one of the most influential young Entrepreneurs and youth activists in Nepal. A passionate persona abiding by his integrity, humility and compassion, he moved us all with stories of his journey. He shared how he came to do what he is doing, what fuels his passion despite the struggles he faces and how entrepreneurship has been a fulfilling experience for him. Despite the short notice, he was able to deliver a strong session, leaving an ever-lasting impression in every single person present there.

We then had our third series of E-chautari. It was an amazing night, connecting with everyone. We divided into breakout rooms and had some chit chat, pulling each other’s legs. We met our team members, shared stories, goofed around and ended up with happy faces. Also, This week on Thursday Tales, we shared the story of our Community Builder, Susan Dongol and his journey from a Deputy Campus Director to a Community Builder. He was entitled as Hult’s 20 most Impactful Campus Directors; follow this link to see how.

Our Finance Head, Deputy Campus Director(DCD), Promoter and Visual Designer went to the campus this week to get some work done. Surprisingly, the DCD was on time that day, which left the others wondering if they were the ones who had reached late, and not the DCD who was on time. While the promoter, with her brand new scooter, was driving as slow as a turtle, afraid of falling off along with the Finance Head, the Visual Designer and DCD had to stop every other place or so for her to catch up with them. They attended meetings with our mentors, sponsors and got all work done. While they meet up this way, time and again, having a whale of a time, the Storyteller feels really miserable (who hasn’t met most of the OC members in person yet), missing out on all the fun and having to write about those meets on top of that. It would be a nice surprise if everyone booked tickets and came to meet her (she would act surprised nonetheless after suggesting the idea herself. We could then go to Mahendranagar to surprise our Ambassador ;p). Our Lead Designer got his Facebook account blocked again this week and we are still in awe about what he does to get blocked every time. This is one such extraordinary talent only he seems to possess and we would love to learn it from him.

Overall, this has been a field week, prepping for the pre-events, burning midnight oils, beating the clock along with a plethora of assignments alongside. We’re eagerly anticipating another week replete with exuberance and rewarding experiences, and I can’t wait to share them with all of you.

Till then have a pleasant week!
